Jake’s Memory Will Live On...
Help us keep his memory alive this holiday season...
We here with Green Hope are sad to pass on this news. Jake VanBrunt passed away Monday afternoon (11/11/07). He had officially beaten the Leukemia that he was diagnosed with on June 26, 2006 with a bone marrow transplant. An unfortunate side affect of his hard work was that the bone marrow transplant left his immune system too weak. He contracted a lung infection that spread to his brain and was unable to defeat this last surprising battle. His funeral was held at the Connell Funeral Home in Bethlehem.
Jake was just 17 years old. He loved the Phillies, Eagles, Penn State, all of his friends, his family and life.
His friends and family pass along "Thank You’s" for everything that GHC and its friends have done for them. From the Fundraiser party for his bone marrow, to the Phillies tickets, the prayers, the visits...everything. It meant the world to him and them.
As referenced in the other news article on our homepage here, we were helping Jake collect Christmas presents for the kids that were still stuck in CHOP on Christmas. The Pirates in Paradise Club had already planned to join in the collection. We are asking that you all still participate in this in Jake’s Memory for all of the kids that are still able to fight this disease.
Thank you.
